Basic middleware issues were highlighted in a successful EuroCAMP
(European Campus Architectural Middleware Planning) workshop in Cork on
18-19 May 2009. Almost 50 participants from universities and research
and education networking organisations attended the workshop. They heard
about middleware and its uses, directories and what they are for, and
aspects of identity management.
This was the ninth EuroCAMP organised by TERENA since the start of the
series of events in 2005. These workshops provide an opportunity to
learn about identity management, authentication and authorisation
technology to access applications, federations, directories and other
standard middleware technologies. The aim is to promote state-of-the-art
middleware technologies and help develop the knowledge and skills needed
by staff who are involved in the set-up of identity management systems
and more advanced authentication and authorisation infrastructures.
